MOVIE NIGHT: FILM CATALOGUE AND SCORING NOTICE

This game accepts titles from a fixed catalogue of 794 films. It is not a complete list of released movies. Valid films outside this catalogue may be rejected. Prompt categories are built from the included facts; no daily editor or runtime data API is required.

The bounded source selection was the 800 most-covered entities directly classified as film (Q11424), with at least 15 Wikimedia sitelinks. Six had no eligible recorded publication year or English label and were excluded. The resulting 794 films span 1915–2026 and have 50–137 Wikimedia sitelinks each. Coverage favours internationally documented titles. Wikidata is community-maintained and can contain omissions or mistakes.

SCORING BASIS
Points use a static Wikimedia sitelink-count proxy. A sitelink is a link from an item to a Wikimedia-project page. Films with lower coverage relative to this catalogue can earn more points. These are catalogue coverage tiers, not measured real-player answer frequencies, box-office results, a survey, or a live probability of being guessed. A 100-point film is relatively lower-covered in this selected catalogue; it is not necessarily obscure to you.

FACT FIELDS AND LIMITS
Each row retains its Wikidata QID, title, English aliases, year, genres, directors, cast members, countries, original languages and sitelink count. The catalogue includes 201 distinct genre labels, 421 directors, 5,178 cast labels, 44 countries and 77 original-language labels. 384 films have at least one English alias.

Year uses the earliest recorded non-deprecated publication date (P577); regional release years can differ. Genres use P136, directors P57, countries P495 and original languages P364. Cast includes the first twelve non-deprecated cast-member claims (P161) in source order. Cast coverage is incomplete; exclusion from a cast-based category does not prove that an actor did not appear in the film. Missing data remains empty.

English title aliases come from Wikidata. Repeated titles require a year when the game cannot otherwise identify one film. For example, Dune (1984) and Dune (2021) are distinct catalogue entries. A QID can be inspected at https://www.wikidata.org/wiki/QID (replace QID with the film's item identifier).

REPRODUCIBILITY
The source checkout retains data/movie-night/import-wikidata.mjs, the exact selection query/result, a bounded SPARQL facet-label query/result, a compressed entity snapshot with film source revisions, an archive hash receipt and a source-grounded catalogue audit. The browser uses the static src/movieNightFilms.mjs module. Refreshing the bank is optional. No IMDb dataset, Wikipedia article prose, film artwork, competitor question bank or runtime AI/API was used for this catalogue.
