How to play Alibi
Open the evidence, connect the records and find the statement that cannot be true.
Make your first move
Read the claims and open evidence records. Select one claim and exactly two opened records, then check whether those records make the claim impossible.
The rules in this edition
These cases are fictional closed-world puzzles: the labelled evidence is reliable. Open records, then select one statement and the exact two records that disprove it. The first two opens are free; each extra record costs 2 points. Incorrect accusations cost 5 points; repeating the same accusation costs nothing. Three incorrect accusations end the case. A contradiction is not proof of guilt.
Prove an impossible journey with two records
In a constructed case, a person claims to leave at 14:00 and arrive by 14:20. One reliable record fixes the departure at 14:00; another says the journey takes at least 25 minutes.
- The departure record fixes when the journey begins. It rules out an earlier start as an explanation.
- Add the minimum duration: 14:00 plus 25 minutes gives an earliest arrival of 14:25.
- Select the arrival claim and those two records. An unrelated receipt may be reliable but does not prove this contradiction.
The first two opened records are free. A correct case starts at 20 points, losing 2 for each additional opened record and 5 for each earlier incorrect accusation. Three incorrect accusations end the case. Contradicting a statement does not establish guilt.
This is a constructed lesson, not the current daily answer.
Why must I choose exactly two pieces of evidence?
Each authored case has one designated pair that rules out its target claim. The labelled evidence is reliable within this fictional puzzle. The task is to establish that precise contradiction, rather than make an open-ended real-world accusation.
Daily play, practice and saved progress
Daily editions change at midnight UTC. Practice uses a separate round. Five solo games share a small M1 catalogue, so dates and practice rounds can reuse content. Up to 200 recent solo rounds are stored in this browser, without an account or cross-device sync. Clearing browser data removes them.
Scores use this game’s own point scale and cannot rank players across different games. Solo challenge codes select the same content for a friend; they do not create a shared online room.
